Remove stench from crawl space
The crawl space stinks. What is the cause and the solution?
If there are (or have been) problems with the sewage system, it is possible that dirty water from the toilet, for example, is leaking into the crawl space. This can also happen if the municipal sewer system overflows and your crawl space has flooded. The water usually drains away, but the organic pollutants remain behind. These substances then decompose and cause an odour in the crawl space. This usually manifests itself in a musty odour in the house or a sewer smell in the house. This can be very unpleasant.
But fortunately, you can do something about it!
Eliminate odours from crawl spaces
It is possible to have the organic substances broken down by bacteria. If special, aerobic bacteria are used for this purpose, no smelly gases are produced during this decomposition.
We have a product for this: Roebic K27, an all-round anti-odour product that can quickly tackle the problem. This is a biological, non-toxic product with which good results can be achieved.
Most drains are fitted with a siphon that creates a surge chamber so that many unpleasant odours cannot be detected. These remain ‘under’ the water, ‘behind’ the surge chamber. However, hydrogen sulphide, among other things, is very soluble in water and this gas is therefore not simply stopped by the surge chamber. As a result, the drain stinks of sewage. In addition, a glue joint in the drain can become somewhat ‘brittle’, making the odours perceptible. This is often difficult to identify and repair.
How can I use the product against odours from the crawl space?
It’s very simple. Below we describe how you can use this product.
- Take one or two bottles of Roebic K27, shake well and pour into a bucket.
- Dilute once with water. Tip: Fill the bottle with water so that you have just enough!
- Spread the contents over the entire crawl space. You can apply it with a watering can or use a sprayer. With the latter, make sure that you don’t mist it, but really spray it.
You should notice a clear difference within a week. Sometimes it is necessary to repeat this treatment.
