Find the cause of the smell in your home
A sewer smell in your home is one of the most annoying problems that can occur in your home. Not only does it have a major impact on the quality of life in your home, but it can also be bad for your health. A smell of sewage in the house often consists of harmful gases like methane and hydrogen sulfide. You can recognize the latter type of gas by the rotten egg smell it gives off.
Sewer smell in the house can have the following causes:
- Blocked drain
- Blocked sewer
- Leakage
- Faulty siphon
- Damaged sewers
So detecting sewer odor in the home is not very easy, because it can different causes have. Stench from a bathroom drain, for example, can be caused by a problem in the sewer system, not necessarily the drain itself. Is your drainage system connected to a septic tank or an STP? Then the problem could lie in the decomposition by the bacteria in the tank. In short, detecting a sewer smell is not always easy.

- Drainpure. In the case of stench from the pipes may be that bacteria in these pipes cause a rotten egg smell. This smell is caused by a microscopic layer (biofilm) of bacteria that remains in the pipes. Drainpure is a product that solves this smell. Usually within a few hours after adding the product you can smell the result. For optimal results it is recommended to add 5 drops of Drainpure to your pipes every week.
- Anti Sewage Odor in Home Package. This is a product which, contrary to Drainpure, works not only on the drain but also deeper into the pipes and works in particular to prevent blockages in the pipes. - Are you in possession of a septic tank or aerated STP? Then you can for the septic tank use the anti smell in house package 2 and for the aerated STP use the anti smell in house package 3.
Do you think that a pipe is broken? Then the use of a smoke generator is interesting. A mist will be sprayed into the pipes which will come out through leaks. It is then possible to repair them.
